Khalil Habib Sayegh founded Librairie du Liban, the first SAYEGH Company in 1944. He was soon joined by his brother George. The name SAYEGH has been synonymous with the very best that educational publishing can offer. By establishing itself as the foremost educational publisher in the Arab World (Middle East, North Africa) and in the UK and by subsequently developing into a dominant force in education reform, SAYEGH has become one of the leader names in the field of education. We have gone beyond the realm of publishing into educational reform, aiming to put the learner at the center of everything we do.

In the UK, Balberry Publishing, (the SAYEGH company’s associate) is one of the leading independent publishers of high-quality primary and secondary courses. Established almost 40 years ago, the firm is best-known in the UK through its York Press imprint, which publishes the famous York Notes, the UK’s bestselling series of English literature study guides. The books published by York are used by millions of school students each year, with its primary market being the Middle East and North Africa.

The cornerstone of SAYEGH’s success and pride is Librairie du Liban’s renowned publishing catalogue. The list includes over 700 dictionaries and reference titles, 300 Arabic Ladybird books, 500 Butterfly books as well as a multitude of school texts and children’s books, covering the entire educational range from K to 12. Over the past 10 years, SAYEGH has increasingly delivered its educational content online. We expect significant growth in this direction in the near future.

Since 1999, SAYEGH’s contribution to the field of education has notably increased as a result of the establishment of the Educational Research Center (ERC). Gathering together a broad spectrum of educational expertise from a range of backgrounds and specialisms, ERC now plays a vital and expanding role in the ongoing improvement of education across the region.
